6.18 Page 1 REPORT May 8, 2006 Subject Award of Contract - Fleishman Park Renovation Project Recommendation Approve the Contract Documents and award the contract for the Fleishman Park Renovation Project to the lowest responsible bidder, Star Construction, Inc. of San Bruno, California, for their low bid of $500,000.00. Background Fleishman Park is a .64 acre park originally constructed in the 1940's, and reconstructed in the 1980's, and is located at the intersection of McEvoy and Locust Street. The existing park, with deteriorated equipment and picnic facilities, is being heavily used by the residents. This project will refurbish the park and all the associated facilities. A water play feature, similar to the one installed at Spin as Park, will also be added. The design of the park has been on-going since last summer, and four meetings were held with neighborhood representatives to solicit design ideas from the public. The park design was done by AAM Design, who also successfully designed the Woodside Road Median Renovation Project. The Fleishman Park renovation will include furnishing and installing new prefabricated restroom structures, new playground safety surfaces, construction of new concrete walkway, new landscaping elements, new site furnishings, planting of new plant materials, new safety fence, and new playground equipment.
