From the City Manager <br /> <br />May 8, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Amendment to the Agreement with the County of San Mateo - Human Services Agency <br />for Differential Response <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment to Jne agreement <br />between the City of Redwood City as fiscal agent for Redwood City 2020 (RC 2020), <br />and the County of San Mateo ~ Human Services Agency (HSA) to support the full <br />implementation of Child Welfare Redesign - Differential Response in Redwood City. <br /> <br />Background <br />Redwood City 2020 was granted $907,537 over three years (January 2006 through <br />June 2008) from the County of San Mateo - Human Services Agency to support the full <br />implementation of Child Welfare Redesign - Differential Response in Redwood City. <br />On January 23,2006, City Council authorized the execution of that agreement following <br />a brief presentation to the Council by Redwood City 2020 on Differential Response. <br />Council was also provided with a more extensive presentation on Differential Response <br />on February 13, 2006. <br /> <br />Redwood City 2020 will coordinate all Differential Response activities in Redwood City as <br />well as connect Differential Response with other community initiatives. <br /> <br />Redwood City 2020 will be responsible for working with its primary sub-contractor, <br />Youth and Family Enrichment Services, to hire and oversee four Case Managers who <br />will 'partner with HSA Child Welfare Social Workers and one Mental Health Clinician. <br />This amendment will provide an additional $100,000 to hire, train and supervise one <br />Mental Health Clinician to work with the Differential Response Team in Redwood City <br />for the entirety of the Agreement term (January 2006 through June 2008), bringing the <br />new funding total to $1,007,537. The Mental Health Clinician will participate in trainings <br />and meetings related to Differential Response, provide mental health services and <br />assessments, conduct home visits, maintain case histories for evaluation and provide <br />referrals and linkages to County Mental Health. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Council may choose not to enter into this amendment to the agreement. <br />
