FromtheCit:yMa.nager <br /> <br />May 8,2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Agreement with the Redwood City School District/Redwood City Family Centers and the <br />City of Redwood City, as fiscal agent for Redwood City 2020 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement between the City of <br />Redwood City/Redwood City 2020 (RC 2020), and the Redwood City School <br />District/Redwood City Family Centers (Family Centers) for support of Community <br />Schools, Early Learning and Family Support Program, and Differential Response <br />Implementation for fiscal year 2005/2006 in the amount of $251 ,930. <br /> <br />Background <br />The City of Redwood City in partnership with the Redwood City School District, the <br />Sequoia Union High School District and the County of San Mateo: - Human Services <br />formed Redwood City 2020 in 1995. The partners have been jointly funding RC 2020 <br />since that time. The John W. Gardner Center was established as a funding partner in <br />June 2003. As of 2004, RC 2020 expanded itsJunding partners to include Wells Fargo, <br />Kaiser Permanente, County of San Mateo - Health Services, and the Sequoia <br />Healthcare District. The City of Redwood City acts as the collaborative fiscal agent for <br />RC 2020 and therefore this Agreement will not impact City services. <br /> <br />Through the proposed contract, Redwood City 2020 will contract with the Redwood City <br />School District / Redwood City Family Centers to continue their work to form meaningful <br />partnerships to support the success of all youths and families, and to engage and <br />strengthen the community. Through this contract the Redwood City School District I <br />Redwood City Family Centers will provide support to the Community Schools Project, <br />Differential Response, and Early Learning and Family Support Programs. The City of <br />Redwood City holds funds, as fiscal agent, for Redwood City 2020 to cover the cost of <br />this agreement. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Council may choose not to enter into this Agreement. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Redwood City has received funding from First 5 Commission of San Mateo County, <br />County of San Mateo - Human Services Agency, County of San Mateo - Health <br />Department, and Peninsula Community Foundation to cover the cost of this agreement. <br />No City funds will be used for this effort. The City is serving as fiscal agent for RC 2020 <br />for this agreement. <br />
