<br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />May 8, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Veterans Boulevard/Middlefield Road Traffic Signal Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the Veterans Boulevard/Middlefield Road Traffic Signal Project, and authorize <br />the release of the payment bond and retention. <br /> <br />Background <br />On May 9, 2005, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the Veterans <br />Boulevard/Middlefield Road Traffic Signal Project to St. Francis Electric Company of <br />San Leandro, California, for their low bid of $166,845.00. <br /> <br />The purpose of this project was to install a new traffic signal system at the intersection <br />of Veterans Bouldvard/Middlefield Road. This traffic signal was identified as a Traffic <br />Impact Mitigation project under the CIP. Traffic Impact Fee revenue was allocated for <br />this project, and partially funded this improvement <br /> <br />This new traffic signal was also identified as a required traffic mitigation measure in the <br />Environmental Impact Report for the On Broadway Retail/Cinema Development Project. <br />Redevelopment CIP funds from the Agency's bond proceeds were allocated to <br />complete the funding of this project. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications for a total cost of $167,160.00. One change order, to upgrade the <br />accessible pedestrian signals to include signs with street names in Braille at each push <br />button station, was issued for a total cost of $315.00. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />Do not accept the Veterans Boulevard/Míddlefield Road Traffic Signal Project, which <br />would be contrary to prior Council action. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $75,000 were appropriated for this this project in the FY 2003- <br />2004 and 2004-2005 CIP budgets, as part of the Traffic Impact Fees Funds. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
