<br /> HOPE 10-Year Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness in San Mateo County <br /> SECTION V <br /> RecO~m~~~~~mR~:Al!fr8Rg <br /> The Plan puts forth strategic goals, strategies Goals <br /> and initiatives to achieve the result of ending The HOPE Plan recommends that a total of 7,900 <br /> homelessness in San Mateo County through the <br /> creation of a sufficient supply of affordable housing housing units affordable to people with extremely <br /> and coordinated, responsible and accessible low incomes will be available. (See Figure 1 at <br /> supportive services for families and individuals bottom of page 14.) <br /> who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. <br /> The HOPE Plan recommends that the proposed <br /> units be created in such as way as to offer the <br /> Recommendation 1 greatest possible range of housing choices <br /> for people who are homeless or at-risk of <br /> homelessness. The HOPE plan proposes to create <br /> these 7,900 units through the following methods: <br /> Increase Housing Opportunities <br /> for People Who Are Homeless or at <br /> Imminent Risk of Homelessness <br /> The most effective way to end homelessness is <br /> to ensure that there is a sufficient supply of safe, <br /> secure and accessible housing affordable to those <br /> with extremely low incomes, including supportive <br /> housing for people with complex challenges, <br /> who need services to remain housed. These <br /> new housing opportunities will be created by <br /> developing new affordable or supportive housing <br /> units and by making existing housing units <br /> affordable. <br /> Figure 1. <br /> 14 <br />
