<br /> 5.1G <br /> Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Redevelopment Agency Board <br /> From the Executive Director <br /> May 22, 2006 <br /> Subject <br /> A,mendment No, ,4 to the Agreement with Catalyst for the pirectiona,l $ignage and <br /> Wayfinding Program. <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approve Amendment NO.2 to the Catalyst Agre,ement. <br /> Background <br /> On January 21, 2005 the Agency entered into agreement with Catalyst for $29,000.00 plus <br /> expenses to define a new directional signage and Wayfinding program. In addition to <br /> Wayfinding design development, the scope of work included initial design development <br /> services for Middlefield Ave. between Veteran's and Broadway and for appropriate signage <br /> ,ofthe free parking to beavaUable In the County garage. The proposed desi,gn concepts <br /> developed under the initial contract were presented to the Council on September 26, 2005. <br /> In terms of the proposed Wayfinding Program, the Council requested staff bring back <br /> several options for a logo, as well as options related to the use of "RC" versus "RWC" for <br /> consideration for the brackets. To provide for the additional services required for these <br /> options, the original contract was amended on January 31, 2006 (Amendment No.1) for <br /> $21,500.00. The additional services included the development of "Wayfinding" <br /> alternatives, the development of a revised concept plan for MiddlefieldlTheatre Way /I <br /> resulting from Council comments, coordjnatjon with Cork Marcheschj for further <br /> development ofthe lanterns proposed for MiddIefield, and meetings and presentations. <br /> On February 27, 2006 and again on April 3, 2006 the Council reviewed the options <br /> developed for the Wayfinding Program and the recommendations of the Downtown <br /> Business Group (DBG) regarding the selection of a downtown logo for integration into the <br /> signage program. At the April 3rd meeting, the Council supported the DBG's <br /> .,. ... ," ' " . <br /> recommendation and authorized construction of the Wayfinding Program, based on the <br /> design developed in collaboration with theDBG and Keng'sDesign. Catalyst was asked <br /> by staff for a proposal to complete the construction documents and provide construction <br /> support services. <br /> The attached Amendment No.2 details that proposal for a total fee of $49,653. The scope <br /> of work includes additional services performed in March on a time-and-materials-and <br /> expense basis, authorized verbally by staff in order to keep the project moving along and <br /> already invoiced.
