8.A. - Page 1 of 2 <br />zsiik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCalifornia <br />Founded 1207 <br />A&/ <br />DATE: January 14, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />City Council appointments to the Planning Commission and the Complete Streets Advisory <br />Committee <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By roll call vote, make the following advisory board appointments: <br />(1) Two limited term seats on the Planning Commission expiring on June 30, 2021 <br />(2) Two limited term seats on the Complete Streets Advisory Committee expiring on May 31, 2019 <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Due to recent resignations on several Boards, Commissions and Committees, the City Clerk's <br />Office initiated a recruitment process on October 1, 2018 to fill the vacant seats. The <br />recruitment period ended on December 1, 2018. <br />The recruitment process included outreach through the City's website and all the City's social media <br />platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln) as well as announcements during City Council meetings and <br />advertisements on the City's government channels. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The City Clerk's Office received a total of seventeen applications. On December 17, 2018 the City <br />Council interviewed thirteen qualified applicants for the Planning Commission and Complete Streets <br />Advisory Committee. <br />Applicants to be considered for appointment by the City Council are as follows: <br />Planning Commission —Two short terms seats expiring June 30, 2021 <br />• Scott Calvert <br />• Jason Galisatus <br />• Rick Hunter <br />• Rene Alejandro Ortega <br />• Bill Shoe <br />• Sarah Watson <br />216 <br />
