I G I N A L _ 6/12/00 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 13413 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY APPROVING SUBMITTAL TO THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />CONSERVATION REQUEST FOR FUNDS FOR PROMOTION OF <br />BEVERAGE CONTAINER RECYCLING <br />WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Beverage Container <br />Recycling and Litter Reduction Act (Pub. Res. Code §14500 et seq.) that provides funds to cities and <br />counties for beverage container recycling and litter cleanup activities; and <br />WHEREAS, the California Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling has been delegated <br />the responsibility for the administration of the program within the State, setting up necessary procedures for <br />cities and counties or their designees under the program; and <br />WHEREAS, per Public Resource Code Section 14581 (a)(4), an eligible participant must submit a <br />Funding Request Form by the due date and time in order to request funds from the Department of <br />Conservation's Division of Recycling; <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />This Council authorizes its Joint Powers Authority (South Bayside Waste Management <br />Authority) to submit the Funding Request form to the Department of Conservation's Division of <br />Recycling on its behalf. The Recycling Manager for the South Bayside Waste Management <br />Authority, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Redwood City all <br />necessary forms hereto for the purposes of securing payment to implement and carry out the purposes <br />specified in Section 14581 (a) (4)(A) of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter <br />Reduction Act, and provide information regarding this program to the Division upon request. <br />Reso -898 1 <br />FXS:djk <br />F: /Shared/Redwood/Council <br />05/22/00 <br />05 /30 /OOR <br />
