By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to purchase a pre -fabricated ADA restroom
facility for Red Morton Park in the amount of $226,357 from the Public Restroom Company through a
government cooperative purchasing program; and
2. Appropriate $226,357 from the Park Impact Fee Fund towards acquisition of a prefabricated ADA
restroom facility.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
Community for All Ages
BACKGROUND
Traditionally, when park improvement projects have included prefabricated restroom facilities in the
construction plans, the structure has been part of the plans and public bidding process, most commonly
listed in the base bid schedule. In the case of the Magical Bridge Playground project, where most of the
project funding has been donated and the cost of construction exceeded the estimated amounts by over
20%, the project was necessarily re -packaged and re -bid. In the effort to remove high overhead costs,
the restroom facility was removed from the base bid since the original bid priced the structure
$50,000.00 over the direct cost of the restroom.
The City has installed several Public Restroom Company (PRC) restroom buildings, including at Mezes
Park and Jardin de Ninos, over the years, and they have proven to be high-quality products.
