I have been reading about how other jurisdictions have created district elections. One <br />model that we might consider is creating 3 districts within Redwood City and having <br />the 3 top -vote getters in each district hold office. There would then be a g person <br />council. This model would still ensure diversity and candidates would still have lower, <br />costs because they would need fewer votes to win. But this model would also allow for <br />competitive races and ensure that issues are addressed in the best interests of all <br />residents, not just residents in one area or another. Since we are now in the early <br />stages of considering district elections, perhaps this model should be included in the <br />conversation and studied a bit more. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Kaia Eakin <br />Redwood City Resident <br />z <br />
