6.1). - Page 7 of 22 <br />NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD FOR CONSTRUCTION <br />DATE POSTED: JANUARY 11th, 2019 <br />PROJECT TITLE: CALIFORNIA WATER TANK, PUMP STATION AND TRANSMISSION MAIN <br />PROJECT — Bid Opening Date December 19, 2018. <br />City Staff has completed the bid evaluation and intends to recommend to the City Council of the City of <br />Redwood City award of the above -referenced project in the coming weeks to: <br />JMB Construction, Inc. <br />(Name of Contractor). <br />Evaluation and Recommendation Summary: <br />Disney Construction Inc.'s Total Base Bid did not equal the summation of all of the Line Item Costs in the <br />Base Bid Schedule. Per Section 00200 1.14F of the project specifications, the discrepancy between the <br />Base Bid ilne item totals and the Base Bid Total shall be resolved in favor of the correct sum of the Base <br />Bid line items. Secondly, the Base Bid Line Item #14 total does not equal the product of the unit price <br />and the line item quantity. Per Section 00200 1.14E of the project specifications, the unit price shall <br />prevail. Resolving the discrepancies noted, Disney Construction Inc. is the apparent low bidder with a <br />Total Bid of $10,022,000. <br />JMB Construction Inc. Base Bid Line Item #24 does not equal the product of the unit price and line item <br />quantity. Per Section 00200 1.14E, states that if a specified unit price is ambiguous, unintelligible, <br />uncertain or omitted, and the total price set forth for that item is clear, the total price shall prevail, and the <br />unit price shall equal the stated total price divided by the stated quantity. For this reconciliation, JMB <br />Construction Inc. is the next lowest bidder with a Total Bid of $10,814,761. <br />Disney Construction Inc. has submitted a notice of an error in their bid, provided evidence for <br />establishing the existence of each element required by Section 5103 of the Public Contract Code for a <br />relief of bid; and requested for relief. Staff intends to recommend to the City Council of the City of <br />Redwood City to provide relief to Disney Construction, Inc., and reject their bid and award to the <br />apparent second lowest bidder JMB Construction, Inc. <br />Staff requests that JMB Construction Inc. signs and returns the Notice to confirm that JMB <br />Construction Inc. agrees with the bid evaluation, and is willing and able to perform the work for <br />the Total Bid of $10,814,761 within one working day of this notification. <br />SIGNATURDATE <br />Saber Sarwary, P.E, <br />City Engineer <br />SIGNATURE zt DATE <br />JMB Constru ion Inc.
