<br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />June 5, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - 2004-2005 Watermain Replacement Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the 2004-2005 Watermain Replacement Project, and authorize the release of <br />bonds and retention. <br /> <br />Background <br />On June 13, 2005, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the 2004- <br />2005 Watermain Replacement Project to Shaw Pipeline, Inc, of San Francisco, <br />California, for the amount of $973,394.00. <br /> <br />Every year the City undertakes a watermain replacement program funded by the <br />Capital Improvement Program Water Fund. This program is designed for systematically <br />replaceing water distribution system main lines, which have a history of service <br />disruptions due to age, excessive maintenance requirements, insufficient fire protection, <br />and/or capacity limitations. A priority list is reviewed and updated annually by the City's <br />Engineering & Construction Services, and the Public Works Services Department, to <br />determine the priority areas to be included in the program each year. This year'.s <br />program included the replacement of nearly one and a half (1.5) miles of watermain at <br />various locations (i.e., along Heller Street and adjoining streets from Main Street to <br />Spruce Street, along Park Road and Oak knoli Drive). <br /> <br />This project was designed and administered by the City's Engineering Staff. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications for a total cost of $970,930.00. One change order was issued due to <br />quantity adjustments for a credit of ($2,464.00), which is 0.253% less than the original <br />bid amount. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Do not approve the Final Acceptance of this project, which would be contrary to prior <br />Council action. <br />
