5. SPECIAL ORDERS: A. Proclamation: National Historic Preservation Month Mayor Pierce read the proclamation and introduced Ken Rolandelli who stated the various activities such as the historic walking tour on Sunday, May 7 and a field trip for 7 th graders in the Redwood City School District to three downtown buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The walking tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Lathrop House at 627 Hamilton Street, lasting 1 -1/2 hrs. and include most of Redwood City's historic commercial buildings as well as some residential properties. B. Proclamation: TV Turnoff Week — Mayor Pierce read the proclamation and Kathleen Barco, of Kaiser Permanente, explained the 12 annual observance to occur the week of April 24 -30, 2006. She stated that the Healthy Community Collaborative is a group of healthcare organizations working toward keeping San Mateo County healthy and viable. She encouraged researching on the internet for great ideas on how to lessen television viewing for a week. C. Proclamation: Honoring Anne Vaughan with the Ursula Ferguson Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service — Mayor Pierce stated that Ursula Ferguson was a longtime volunteer of the library, dedicating years and enthusiasm with a spirit that energized the library for many years. Mayor Pierce called Anne Vaughn to the podium with Library Board Chair Zachary Sweeney read the proclamation. Ms. Vaughn thanked everyone for the honor. D. Presentation: One Community — One Book — Dave Genesy, Library Director, encouraged the community to read the book and pass it along to family, friends and neighbors, then asking them what they thought about it. 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR - CITY COUNCIU REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY M/S Hartnett/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. Jeri Joseph, Parks and Recreation Commissioner, announced the annual Pet Parade on Saturday, April 29 at 1400 Roosevelt Avenue behind the Community Activities Building (CAB). There will be various activities available at the event that begins at noon, with registration at 11:30 a.m. Tom Passanisi, Community Development Services Manager, announcement upcoming Planning Commission meetings to discuss the General Plan. The first meeting is scheduled for May 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber where discussion and consideration of the guiding principles for the General Plan will occur. This meeting will be televised. Should the Planning Commission adopt the guiding principles, a second meeting will be held on May 16 at which storytelling and development of a vision for the city will be scheduled.
