<br /> 6.1E <br /> Page 1 <br />REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Ci Mana er <br />June 19, 2006 <br />Subject <br />Award of Contract - Redwood Shores Sewer Pump Station No. 15 Improvement <br />Project <br />Recommendation <br />Approve the Contract Documents and award the contract for the Redwood Shores <br />Sewer Pump Station No. 15 Improvement Project to the lowest responsible bidder, <br />Anderson Pacific Engineering Construction, Inc. of Santa Clara, California, for their low <br />bid of $454,500.00. <br />Background <br />Station No. 15 was originally built in 1982. Although the station is not among the oldest <br />(compared to those built in the sixties), its pumps and controls are outdated, and <br />rehabilitation is needed to bring it up to standards. Improvements will concentrate on <br />new submersible pumps in the wet well, which will improve maintenance crew safety by <br />eliminating the need for confined space entry into the dry well. New variable frequency <br />drives will enhance the efficiency of the pumps, and new piping and rehabilitation of the <br />wet well will extend the useful life of the station. <br />Five (5) bids for the above-referenced project were opened in the Office of the City <br />Engineer (public counter - Maps & Records area) Wednesday, May 31, 2006, and are <br />summarized below. <br /> Amount <br />Rank Contractor (Base Bid) <br />1.
