7.A. - Page 5 of 12 <br />Commission Work Plan Guidelines <br />Work Plan Worksheet 0 E : <br />Step 1 <br />Review purpose of From City Charter: <br />Commission as <br />defined by Section 17. PLANNING COMMISSION: <br />Charter/Ordinance <br />'UL <br />There shall be a city planning commission, which shall consist of seven members, who shall be appointed by <br />the Council, to serve for four (4) years each, and thereafter until their respective successors are appointed <br />and qualified, none of whom shall hold any other public office or position in the City. All members of the <br />commission shall, at the time of their appointments and continuously during their incumbencies, be residents <br />and electors of the City. The commission shall elect its chairperson from among its members. Neither the City <br />Attorney, the Planning Director nor any deputy or assistant of either of them, shall have the right to vote or <br />enter into deliberations but shall be present in an advisory capacity only. (As amended November 6, 2007, <br />filed by Secretary of State March 12, 2008). <br />The planning commission shall exercise all powers and duties granted it by ordinance or resolution of the <br />Council now or hereafter in effect and shall exercise such additional powers and duties as may now or <br />hereafter be provided for by such general laws of the State as are not in conflict with this Charter, or any <br />ordinance or resolution of the Council. <br />The members of the present city planning commission in office at the time of this Charter taking effect shall <br />continue in office until the end of the terms for which they have been respectively appointed.
