We feel that of <br />the maps presented it best meets the goals and needs of the community. <br />The following goals are achieved through Map 7-013f: <br />1. Each current council member is in a separate district that includes an area of "their neighborhood" <br />2. District 1 - Redwood Shores and the section of Bair Island have a common character, both in population and in their specific <br />and unique relationship with and concerns for the water ways, levees and sloughs. Making this into a single district makes <br />sense as they have these unique issues in common. <br />3. All 7 districts touch on Woodside Road / Seaport Blvd and having all council members aware of and responsive to the needs <br />of this important corridor is valuable for resolving problems, traffic management and future planning. <br />4. Three districts touch on our downtown, and a fourth is within walking distance (district 1). Downtown is a critical part of our <br />community both economically and socially. Having a number of council members involved intimately with this important <br />part of our community is important so that multiple concerns and perspectives are part of the decision-making. <br />5. The character of all the districts is consistent and follows the intent of the creation of district with relation to protected <br />classes. <br />We would discourage 7-021c or 7-021d. Both of these have district 6 including very large area and a wide range of demographics <br />within its boundaries which seems to not respond to the protected classes interest in the legislation. <br />Thank you for your consideration of our comments.
