Park and Recreation Commission Page 3 <br />Minutes of May 24, 2006 <br />property acquisition and maintenance plan prior to; look at level of service, <br />modify in phases, consider cumulative effect of fees in city; fees will impact <br />economic development in community; and re-inventory park land. <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser encouraged the speakers to attend the Planning <br />Commission and City Council meetings on this matter. <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope said she was surprised at dollar figure of PDO and is <br />concerned about impact to community. Superintendent Hover stated that <br />the Nexus Study will be reviewed and the fee could be modified and brought <br />back to the commission. He noted that as the item moves forward, the <br />Commission will be kept advised of its status. Commissioner White <br />expressed concern that discounts for affordable and/or senior housing were <br />not included in the recommendation. <br /> <br />M/S Morton/Swope: To approve the recommendations as contained <br />in the Staff Report. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 – SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />th <br />-4 of July Parade <br />th <br />The Commissioners discussed the plans for the 4 of July float which will <br />have a Union Cemetery theme. <br /> <br />-Art & Wine Festival <br />Commissioner Joseph asked that this item be moved to the July agenda. <br /> <br />-Windmill Project <br />Superintendent Hover reported that he, Commissioner Joseph and John <br />Edmonds met to discuss the project. The Historic Resources Advisory <br />Committee has approved the tentative location of the windmill to Union <br />Cemetery. He noted that Manager Ramon Aguilar will be retiring in July but <br />that Ramon has agreed to remain a volunteer on the project for the next 18 <br />months. The Commissioners also discussed installing a plaque for Jean Cloud <br />at the proposed windmill site. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - UPDATES <br />-Park Rules <br />Superintendent Hover noted that a response to the draft Park Rules was <br />received from the Police Department today. This item will be brought before <br />the Commission at their June meeting. <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph reported on the successful Pet Parade and thanked <br />staff, Teen Advisory Board and Youth Advisory Board for all their support. <br />She noted that it was a fun day that included lots of children’s activities. A <br />meeting will be held soon to critique the event. <br /> <br />
