6.1. - Page 1 of 43 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: March 25, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Purchase of four new, 2020 Model Year Ford Explorer Police Interceptors <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the purchase of four new, 2020 Model Year Ford Explorer Police Interceptors in the <br />amount of $189,260 from Towne Ford of Redwood City, California. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and <br />equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At <br />pre -described intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited <br />to age, anticipated future repairs, condition, downtime, maintenance history, mileage, usage, and vehicle <br />capabilities. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Redwood City Police Department has four vehicles that are scheduled to be replaced in the current <br />Fiscal Year (FY). Representatives from the Police Department and the Public Works Department Fleet <br />Section have evaluated the four vehicles and determined they should be replaced with 2020 Model Year <br />Ford Explorer Police Interceptors as they will meet the rigorous demands of the Police Department. <br />On January 11, 2019 a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids was published in the San Mateo Daily Journal with a <br />submission deadline of 2:30 p.m. on February 13, 2019. Copies of the bid notice were emailed to six local <br />dealerships with additional copies available at the Public Works office located at 1400 Broadway, <br />Redwood City, CA 94063.
