STRATEGIC INITIATIVE Government Operations BACKGROUND Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre -described intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited to age, anticipated future repairs, condition, downtime, maintenance history, mileage, usage, and vehicle capabilities. ANALYSIS The Redwood City Police Department has four vehicles that are scheduled to be replaced in the current Fiscal Year (FY). Representatives from the Police Department and the Public Works Department Fleet Section have evaluated the four vehicles and determined they should be replaced with 2020 Model Year Ford Explorer Police Interceptors as they will meet the rigorous demands of the Police Department. On January 11, 2019 a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids was published in the San Mateo Daily Journal with a submission deadline of 2:30 p.m. on February 13, 2019. Copies of the bid notice were emailed to six local dealerships with additional copies available at the Public Works office located at 1400 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063. The received bids were opened by the City Clerk on February 13, 2019, and are summarized in the table below.
