Redwood Shores is a distinct and separate
community within Redwood City. Not only is Redwood Shores geographically separated from
Redwood City, but we also face some local issues that are distinct from those faced by other
parts of Redwood City. For example, we are surrounded by levees, we are part of a different
school district, we host a regional water treatment plant that is currently building a tunnel under
Redwood Shores, and we have concerns about emergency access (both in and out of Redwood
Shores) due to our being located entirely to the East of the 101 freeway. For at least these
reasons, Redwood Shores needs its own representative in the City Council, and I encourage you
to adopt one of the three proposed district maps that keeps Redwood Shores as a separate and
distinct voting district. Thank you for considering my comment. Douglas Crisman
260
