As a resident of Redwood Shores for over 18
years, I feel strongly that we need to have someone who lives in Redwood Shores represent us. It is important
for the council member to live in Redwood Shores so that he or she understands the issues. He or she would
undoubtedly take a much stronger interest in the issues if they affect his or her community. In
addition, Redwood Shores is not contiguous with Bair Island or any other area of Redwood City. The
population of Redwood Shores is already at the "ideal" limit per the map options. Bair Island is a new
development. I am guessing the population will grow in the coming years. If that is the case, the district's
population would be more than the other districts if it were to be merged with Redwood Shores.
For this reason, I do not support map option 13G.
Personally, I would be happy with any of the other options because they do not combine Redwood Shores
with another part of Redwood City. None of the other options are perfect, but 21E seems like the most
balanced option to me in terms of the population, income level and housing stats.
Sincerely,
Claudia Sarconi
