San Mateo County Parks for the Future - November Ballot Initiative <br /> <br />Staff Contact: Corinne Centeno, Director Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department <br />780-7254 ccenteno@redwoodcity.org <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that City Council, adopt a resolution, to endorse the Parks for <br />Future 1/8 cent Sales Tax Measure, which if approved by voters in November <br />2006, would support parks and recreation activities in San Mateo County, the <br />Cities located within the County, the Ladera and Highlands Recreation Districts <br />and Mid-Peninsula Regional Open Space District for a period of 25 years. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY PARKS FOR THE FUTURE <br />ORDINANCE, A 1/8 CENT SALES TAX MEASURE, ON THE NOVEMBER, 2006 <br />COUNTYWIDE BALLOT <br /> <br />B. Future Solid Waste, Recycling, and Organics Collections Programs and future <br />Franchise Agreement <br /> <br />Staff contact: Brian Ponty, Director of Finance and Financial Planning 780-7048 <br />bponty@redwoodcity.org <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Receive report and provide staff direction regarding important issues and choices <br />for future solid waste, recycling, and organics collection programs and the future <br />franchise agreement. <br /> <br />c. Purchase of Downtown parking meters <br /> <br />Staff contact: Dan Zack, Downtown Development Coordinator 780-7363 dzack@redwoodcity.org <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />1. By resolution, authorize sole source purchase of LUKE model "pay-by-space" <br />parking meters (manufactured by Digital Payment Technologies of Vancouver, <br />Canada) for an amount of $402,957 and suspend the requirements of Article <br />VII, PURCHASING, Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code governing competitive <br />bidding. <br />2. By resolution, appropriate $402,957 from the Parking Fund for the purchase of <br />LUKE parking meters. <br />3. By motion, authorize staff to execute an agreement with Digital Payment <br />Technologies for the purchase of forty (40) LUKE model parking meters in the <br />amount of $402,957. <br />4.
