CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE <br /> <br /> MAY 1 4 2001 <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> May 10, 2001 <br /> <br /> Edward Everett <br /> City Manager <br /> City of Redwood City <br /> 1017 Middlefield Road <br />ENVIRONMENTAL <br />SERVICES Redwood City, CA 94064 <br />AGENCY <br /> Dear Mr. Everett: <br /> <br /> As you know, the County and the cities have agreed to commence with <br />Agricultural Phase II of the DMG Maximus study of Animal Control Services. The <br />Commissioner/Sealer of study is scheduled to kick-offon June 7th, with a finished report <br />Weights & Measures completed in approximately six months. I am confident that the study <br /> will ensure our contract dollars are efficiently spent, and the best <br /> services are provided to our constituents. Enclosed is a copy of the <br />Animal Control scope of the project. <br /> <br /> The total cost of the stu 1,66~. The County will pay 30% of <br /> the cost, and the remainir~g 70% wilJ/be split amongst the cities using <br /> Cooperative Extension the traditional model basek[,on pofl;~lation and assessed value. The <br /> County has agreed to front t'tle'T-nitial costs of the study,, and seek_ <br /> .re~lxhm'~ement from the cities in the Fall of 2001~ when the <br /> traditionally bills for Animal Control Services costs. <br /> Fire Protection ~ <br /> Enclosed is a copy of the breakdown of costs between the cities both <br /> for the study and for FY 01-02 Animal Control Services. Please note <br /> LAFCo the figures have been updated to reflect the 2000 Census numbers and <br /> FY 00-01 assessed value. <br /> <br /> A representative committee has been formed to direct the study. Dave <br />Library Carmany of Pacifica will represent the City Managers, Greg Cowart of <br /> Millbrae the Police Chiefs, and John De Russy of San Mateo the <br /> Finance Directors. Geraldine O'Connor will represent the Humane <br />.Parks & Recreation Society, and Paul Scannell, Donna Spillane, and I will be present from <br /> the County. These representatives will meet periodically to oversee <br /> the direction of the study, and will disseminate information to their <br /> respective groups. <br />.
