b) Whenever possible, impound all dogs caught at large <br /> and provide for possible field return. <br /> <br /> c) Quarantine animals as prescribed by County Health <br /> Department and State Veterinarian. <br /> <br /> d) Upon request by CITY or citizen of CITY, investigate <br /> complaints of animal nuisances, except excluded <br /> services as specified in Section D, Paragraph 2d. <br /> Barking Dog complaints will be handled as indicated <br /> under Exhibit B. <br /> <br /> e) Remove dead animals from the public right-of-way, <br /> except freeways/highways which are maintained by <br /> CALTRANS. <br /> <br /> f) Remove stray dead domestic animals from private <br /> property with no charge. Also, remove owned stray <br /> domestic dead animals with a charge to the citizen <br /> requesting service. <br /> <br /> g) Investigate and follow up, as necessary, with <br /> impoundment, citation and prosecution of reported dog <br /> bites. <br /> <br /> h) If euthanasia is necessary for a sick or injured <br /> animal in the field, perform the euthanasia, which <br /> shall be conducted by trained personnel who have been <br /> provided with all necessary equipment. This service <br /> shall be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days <br /> a week. <br /> <br /> i) Conduct one clinic each year for the vaccination of <br /> dogs and cats within each CITY that pays for this <br /> additional service. <br /> <br /> j) Provide supplemental radio dispatching services <br /> between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00am Monday through <br /> Friday, and 5:00pm through 8:00am Saturday, Sundays, <br /> and Holidays. <br /> <br /> k) Assign officers to perform the functions specified in <br /> Sections a through h above. The officers shall <br /> conduct routine patrols in response to complaints, <br /> investigate and perform rescues as manpower allows, <br /> adhere to court subpoenas, impound dangerous and <br /> injured or loose animals. <br /> <br />2.
