11/8/99 <br /> ORIGINAL - <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13789 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> APPROVING OPERATION AGREEMENT FOR THE SOUTH <br /> BAYSlDE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY FACILITIES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has agreed to enter into a joint exercise <br />of powers agreement under California Government Code §§ 6500 et. seq. to <br />establish a joint powers authority known as the South Bayside Waste Management <br />Authority (the SBWMA); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SBWMA is authorized to acquire, finance, maintain, and <br />operate that certain land and building known as the San Carlos Transfer Station and <br />the San Mateo Recyclery located at 225, 229 & 333 Shoreway Rd., in San Carlos, <br />California (the Facilities); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, attached as Exhibit A hereto is an agreement entitled "Agreement <br />For the Operation of the South Bayside Waste Management Authority's Transfer <br />Station and Recyclery" (the Operation Agreement); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SBWMA will, pursuant to the Operation Agreement, contract <br />for the term indicated therein with BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. (BFI) <br />to be the operator of the FaciLities, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, BFI has the experience of having operated the Facilities for <br />approximately the past eighteen (18) years, and is in a position to continue to operate <br />the Facilities; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Reso-780 <br /> DES:djk <br /> F:/S ha red/Redwood/Council <br /> 11/03/99R 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
