11/8/99 <br /> _ ORIGINAL <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13787 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY APPROVING PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR ACQUISITION <br /> BY THE SOUTH BAYSlDE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY OF <br /> REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE SAN CARLOS <br /> TRANSFER STATION AND SAN MATEO RECYCLERY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Redwood City (City) has agreed to enter into a joint <br />exercise of powers agreement under California Government Code §§ 6500 et. seq. <br />to establish a joint exercise of powers authority known as the South Bayside Waste <br />Management Authority (the SBWMA); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SBWMA is authorized to acquire, finance, maintain, and <br />operate that certain land and building known as the San Carlos Transfer Station and <br />the San Mateo Recyclery located at 225, 229 & 333 Shoreway Rd., in San Carlos, <br />California (the Facilities); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, attached as Exhibit A hereto is an agreement entitled "Agreement <br />For The Sale And Purchase of Real Property and Personal Property Between The <br />South Bayside Waste Management Authority and BFI Waste Systems of North <br />America, Inc. In Respect To The San Carlos Transfer Station and San Mateo <br />Recyclery and Joint Escrow Instructions" (the Purchase Agreement); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council hereby determines that the acquisition of the <br /> Facilities is in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the City of <br /> Redwood City; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> This Council hereby approves the Purchase Agreement and hereby authorizes <br /> <br /> Reso-779 <br /> DES:djk <br /> F:/Sh ared/Redwood/Cou ncil <br /> 11/03/99R <br /> <br /> <br />
