SCOPE OF WORK <br />Contractor's services will consist of removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk, curb <br />and gutter, asphalt pavement, removal of concrete and installation of ADA-compliant curb <br />ramps (ADA ramps), utility trench/street repair and similar work on an as-needed basis. <br />Contractor will provide all labor, materials, disposal, equipment, traffic control and <br />apparatus not specifically mentioned in this Agreement, but which are necessary to <br />complete the services specified herein. <br />Contractor shall have daily communication with the Right-of-Way Utilities Field Supervisor <br />or designee. The Right-of-Way Utilities Field Supervisor or designee shall assign <br />Contractor work, which Contractor shall complete within twenty-one (21) City business <br />days from the date of the assignment. <br />Contractor shall comply with all City's Engineering Standards, including, but not limited <br />to, Volumes 1, 2 and 3. The City’s Engineering Standards can be found here: <br />https://www.redwoodcity.org/departments/community-development- <br />department/engineering-transportation/engineering/engineering-standards <br />Contractor also shall comply with Caltrans and County standards as applicable to work <br />assigned. <br />A. Contractor shall demolish existing sidewalks, asphalt, curbs/gutters, and ADA <br />ramps. <br />i. Work shall include the saw cutting, removal and disposal of the particular <br />concrete/asphalt item specified, and shall include the base and all its <br />appurtenances to the appropriate depth below finished grade for the thickness of <br />the concrete item, plus four inches thick base rock. Concrete removal shall <br />include any thickness of concrete encountered during excavation. Sites may <br />require greater or lesser excavation and greater tree root removal, if the existing <br />grade has been raised above or settled below final grade. Where sidewalks or <br />curb and gutter are relocated for ADA ramp installation, additional excavation <br />may be required. Where root pruning is required, the sidewalk shall be removed <br />and excavation shall not occur until after root cutting is performed. <br />ii. Concrete removal shall be done in a manner to avoid chipping and breakage of <br />remaining concrete at the conform line. Temporary asphalt ramps or patches on <br />concrete adjacent to repairs shall be removed to the original concrete surface. If <br />concrete is chipped, the existing sidewalk shall either be re-saw cut adjacent to <br />the chip or at the nearest score line at the decision of the Right-of-Way Utilities <br />Field Supervisor or designee. Additional concrete repairs necessary due to <br />chipping caused by the Contractor shall be made at the Contractor's expense. <br />iii. The Contractor shall be responsible for pruning any roots or branches from City <br />street trees only at the direction of the Public Works Tree Supervisor or designee. <br />ATTY/AGR.2022-Amend No. 2/Bay Area Paving Co., Inc.
