8.A. - Page 51 of 64 <br />AP -85 Other Actions — 91.220(k) <br />Introduction: <br />In addition to the specific actions stated in the Action Plan the City will undertake other actions as <br />follows. <br />Actions planned to address obstacles to meeting underserved needs <br />The City will fund several activities that will address obstacles to meeting underserved needs including <br />housing production and preservation, homeless shelters and supportive services, human services <br />programs that meet basic human needs and economic development. <br />Actions planned to foster and maintain affordable housing <br />In addition to supporting housing production and preservation activities the City funds fair housing <br />services that provides education and outreach, discrimination investigation and tenant landlord <br />assistance. They City also continues to monitor its deed restricted affordable housing to ensure <br />compliance with affordability terms. <br />Actions planned to reduce lead-based paint hazards <br />The City will continue to provide funds through its single and multifamily housing rehabilitation <br />programs to conduct lead based paint inspections and removal of lead based paint hazards. The City will <br />continue to require testing and hazard removal in all CDBG and HOME funded housing activities. <br />Actions planned to reduce the number of poverty -level families <br />The City will continue to work with the Continuum of Care to implement their work plan to comply with <br />the HEARTH act, including reducing the number of poverty level families. Additionally the City will fund <br />Redwood Family House to provide shelter, transitional housing and support services to help families <br />become self-sufficient. <br />Actions planned to develop institutional structure <br />The City is a strong leader and participant in the development and ongoing support of various programs <br />and initiatives constituting the delivery system. These strengths include extensive efforts to involve the <br />community in identifying needs and trends, collaborative efforts with other jurisdictions to address <br />regional issues, and the close working relationships with and support of the nonprofit sector in their <br />important role in the overall health and strength of the community. Overcoming the experience gaps of <br />each group requires only cooperation with other agencies or groups who have the necessary <br />experience.
