8.113. - Page 19 of 72 <br />WHEREAS, on April 9, 2018, an Ad -Hoc Committee was formed to look into <br />Special Event Fees being charged by various City departments; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed update to Special Event Fees, including Courthouse <br />Square Event Fees, reflects the policy decision of the City Council to charge a discounted <br />rate to nonprofit organizations; and <br />WHERAS, the City's discounted rate for nonprofit organizations is an <br />acknowledgement of the service that nonprofit organizations provide to the City in the <br />form of community events and to alleviate some of the financial burden of paying Special <br />Event Fees; and <br />WHEREAS, the City wants to ensure that permit applicants bear the appropriate <br />share of the cost of public services required to support events at Courthouse Square and <br />other special events, including the associated costs and resources necessary to process <br />the permit and to support, clean up, and repair City -operated facilities of Courthouse <br />Square. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. The proposed update to the Special Event Fees, including <br />Courthouse Square Event Fees, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated by <br />reference, is hereby adopted. <br />SECTION 2.
