5/10/99 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13624 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING POLICY <br /> RELATING TO CONTINUATION OF SALARY AND BENEFITS <br /> FOR CITY EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE MILITARY DUTY <br /> FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION <br /> RESPONSE TO MILITARY ACTION IN THE BALKANS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United States has, as a member of the North Atlantic <br />Treaty Organization ("NATO") responded to military action among warring <br />factions in the Balkans, viz., Yugoslavia and provinces thereof n; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, certain employees of the City of Redwood City, have, as <br />members of the California National Guard or a United States military reserve <br />organization, been called to active duty, or have been alerted to the possibility of <br />being called to active duty, as a result of the aforesaid action; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to provide for the continuation of salary <br />and benefits for employees of the City who are called to active military duty in the <br />interests of world peace; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> That certain policy entitled, "Policy Establishing Continuation of Salary <br />and Benefits for City Employees Called to Active Military Duty", providing for <br />certain such benefits for a period not to exceed six (6) months, a copy of which <br />policy is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A", and by this reference incorporated <br />herein, is hereby approved, and the City Manager is hereby authorized and <br /> <br />Reso-657 1 <br />F:/Shared/Redwood/Council <br />DES:djk <br />05/04/99 <br /> <br /> <br />
