If
approved, it would cost taxpayers millions in
payouts and, most likely, would bring efforts to
strengthen land-use regulations, including
those designed to protect the environment, to
a grinding halt."
- Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Editorial,
9/11/06

"Prop. 90 is an ill, not a cure"
"Proposition 90 would hamstring local govern-
ments trying to enforce environmental, histori-
cal preservation. land use and consumer
rights laws. ... We urge a no vote."
- Napa Valley Register, Editorial, 9/14/06

"Prop. 90's bait and switch"
"Using the highly charged title "Save Our
Homes Act," proponents of Prop. 90 are
attempting to traffic in the fear spread by a
recent Supreme Court decision .,. If Proposi-
tion 90 were to pass, any action by a govern-
ment agency in California could force that
agency to pay damages to an owner who
successfully proved in court that his or her
property lost value as a result of the action.
This part of Prop. 90 runs far afield of any
perceived threat of property being taken by
eminent domain."
- Mountain View Voice, Editorial, 9/8106

More Groups Join Diverse 'No on 90'
Coalition

Since last week, we've had dozens of groups
and individuals officially come on board the "No on
90" campaign including:
. But city officials
working with local community groups may advo-
cate for or against a measure if they are working
on their own (personal) time, without using
any publiC resources.

With only eight weeks left until the November
election, community groups who are educated
about the problems with Prop. 90 can use their
newsletters to provide information about Prop. 90
impacts. October newsletters will come out just
when voters are starting to get their sample
ballots, which is when they really start paying
attention to the election.

Sample newsletter articles can be accessed
(please - use only your personal computer) in the
downloads section of the www.noDroD90.com.
Please send a copy of any newsletter articles
published by community organizations in your
area to info@noprop90.com.

For more information on the rules governing
city officials participation in ballot measure advo-
cacy, please see "Working on a Ballot Measure
Campaign: Some Rules for City Officials" on the
League's website at www.cacities.orQ/
t:>allotmeasures.

PIND A BILt, LEGISLATORS, LEt
COMMITTEE 0; OR ASK LEG STAFF
Visit (and bookmark!) the LeagUe's
Legislative Resources page
(VfNW. cacities.orallegresources)..
