<br />09/25/2006 <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 10 will provide $10 billion for implementing school <br />building repairs and providing innovative learning facilities for Californian students, <br />including seismic retrofitting and classroom repairs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 1 E will provide $4 billion for critical river levee repair and <br />construction, as well as flood control projects and the updating and repair of old water <br />mains and sewage systems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 84 will provide $5.4 billion for improving natural <br />resources and water programs including state projects and grants for flood control, safe <br />drinking water, improving water quality, integrated water management, water planning, <br />and sustainable communities, and provide a potential source of grant funding toward <br />the restoration efforts on Sair Island; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the League of California Cities is in strong support of Propositions <br />1A - 1 E and 84, and view this package of measures as absolutely necessary in <br />providing critically needed resources for all California cities; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY THAT THE CITY HEREBY EXPRESSES ITS STRONG <br />SUPPORT FOR PROPOSITIONS 1 A, 1 B, 1 C, 1 D, 1 E AND 84 WHICH WILL BE <br />PRESENTED FOR VOTER APPROVAL ON THE NOVEMBER 2006 STATEWIDE <br />BALLOT. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />A TTY/RESO/RESO.1649 <br />091106 <br /> <br />14739 <br />formerly muff # 307 <br /> <br />2 <br />
