<br />SECTION 4. Any employee holding a position in the classifi- <br /> <br /> <br />cation of fire fighter, fire inspector, fire alarm supervisor, or <br /> <br />fire captain who is assigned, in writing, the duties of a job <br /> <br />classification with a higher salary range than that to which he <br /> <br /> <br />is regularly assigned, on a temporary basis but for more than <br /> <br />five shifts, within any period of 12 consecutive months, shall <br /> <br />receive, in addition to his basic salary for such period, compen- <br /> <br /> <br />sation in the amount of 5% of such basic salary for that time worked <br /> <br /> <br />under such circumstances in excess of five shifts; provided, however, <br /> <br />that any employee holding a position in one of the above mentioned <br /> <br /> <br />classifications who, after January 1, 1974, is so assigned the <br /> <br />duties of a job classification with a higher salary than that to <br /> <br /> <br />which he is regularly assigned, shall receive the above mentioned <br /> <br />additional compensation for any time worked under such circumstances <br /> <br />commencing with the first such assignment, if such employee was <br /> <br /> <br />ever so assigned prior to January 1, 1974, irrespective of the <br /> <br />number of shifts. <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 5. The provisions of the foregoing sections of this <br /> <br /> <br />ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, if a position allocated <br /> <br />to a given class in the competitive service is reallocated to a <br /> <br />different class in order to correct an error or to provide for a <br /> <br />change in duties or responsibilities of such position, and there <br /> <br /> <br />is no change in the incumbent of the position so reallocated, and <br /> <br />the maximum salary provided for the position as reallocated is less <br /> <br /> <br />than the salary received by the incumbent prior to reallocation, <br /> <br /> <br />then said incumbent shall continue to be compensated at the rate <br /> <br /> <br />paid said incumbent prior to such allocation. <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 6. (a) Each communications dispatcher assigned to <br /> <br /> <br />the fire department regularly assigned to night shift duty, as <br /> <br />herein defined, or to a relief schedule requiring night shift duty, <br /> <br />-2- <br />
