<br />DES:yc:l1/l7/71 <br /> <br />ORIGI NAl <br /> <br />Ute 20 11 <br /> <br />o R DIN A N C E <br />--------- <br /> <br />N o. 1$'/5 <br /> <br />OIIDlNANCE ADDING ~RTICLE III TO Clk\PTER 6 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF REm'lOOD CITY, PROVID ING FOR THE <br />REGULATION OF GARAGE SALES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO'i'/S: <br /> <br />SEcrION 1. <br /> <br />Article III (conunencing with the article headi.ng) <br /> <br />is hereby added to Chapter 6 of the Code of the city of Redwood <br /> <br />City, to read as follows: <br /> <br />"ARTICLE III. GARAGE SALES. <br /> <br />For the purposes of this article, a <br /> <br />"Section 6.50 <br /> <br />garage sale shall be defined as a sale conducted by an <br /> <br />individual homeowner or occupant of a home, or apartment <br /> <br />owner~. or ocalpant of an apartment unit, or owner or <br /> <br />occupant of any other residential or dwelling unit, for the <br /> <br />purpose of selling, trading, bargaining, exchanging or other- <br /> <br />wise disposing of unwanted or surplus household furnishings <br /> <br />or goods, or other tangible personalty, usually conducted <br /> <br />in a garage, on a patio, upon a driveway, or on or in any <br /> <br />portion of premises'in a residential zone and for which no <br /> <br />inventory or permanent or detailed records are kept on the <br /> <br />transactions thus. carried out. It may, at times, be conducted <br /> <br />by a combination of residential dwellers at a single location <br /> <br />and may take on the nature and character of a,rurrunage sale <br /> <br />or a fund-raising event for civic 'or charitable purposes. <br /> <br />All sales designated "lawn sale," "attic sale," "rununage <br /> <br />sale," "moving sale," "flea market sale," or other terms of <br /> <br />similar or like intent and having the foregoing character- <br /> <br />istics and purposes shall be deemed garage sales. <br /> <br />Any person proposing to promote, adver- <br /> <br />"Section 6.51 <br /> <br />tise, or conduct a garage sale shall, prior thereto, obtain <br /> <br />a garage sale permit from the Police Chief. <br /> <br />T" <br />
