ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br /> Todd Foster, representing Ca~ada College, announced a lecture and reception <br /> entitled, "Eternal Egypt: Art in the Land of the Pharaohs", Thursday, September 26 <br /> which benefits the Art History program and features Denise Erickson. The second <br /> event is the 5th Annual Arts and Olive Festival on September 28 and 29 and benefits <br /> the Ca~ada College Student Scholarship Fund. <br /> <br /> Pat Taviss, representing the Redwood City Public Library, shared a poem written by <br /> an 11 year old youth regarding September 11. Ms. Taviss invited the community to <br /> share reflections since September 11 in an informal facilitated gathering on <br /> Wednesday, September 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This community dialogue will take <br /> place in the Reading Room of the Main Library. Ms. Taviss also stated the new <br /> program series with the San Francisco based author, lecturer and tour guide, Rand <br /> Richards. A slide illustrated talk about his latest book, "Historic Walks in San <br /> Francisco - 18 Trails through the City's Past", on Thursday, September 12 at 7:30 <br /> p.m. in the Community Room. For more information, check the website at <br /> www.rcphinfo or call 780-7026. <br /> <br /> Rudy Luca stated he is proud to live in one of the greatest communities on the <br /> Peninsula and Bay Area since 1953. He stated he would forgo his comments this <br /> evening due to his desire to maintain the tone of the meeting. He thanked Council. <br /> <br /> Katherine Greene invited the Council and community to a photo show from <br /> September 20 through December 31 at the San Mateo County History Museum at 777 <br /> Hamilton Street. She stated there will be 15 photos on display and they will be <br /> available for sale during the course of the show. The proceeds from the sale will go <br /> toward the San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Foundation for the benefit of the <br /> Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve Interpretive Center. <br /> <br /> Howard Macway, President of the Board of Directors of Casa de Redwood, an <br /> affordable senior housing complex of 136 units, thanked staff and Council for funding <br /> to install energy efficient windows. The installation has provided not only energy <br /> savings, but noise reduction. The residents signed personal messages of thanks on a <br /> banner presented to Council. <br /> <br />7. CONSENT CALENDAR- <br /> <br /> Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine by the City Council and <br /> will be enacted by one motion and one vote.
