<br />REG:yc:ll/25/64-7 <br /> <br />-~.'. ~.~ <br />J (' f't <br /> <br />ORDl..NANCE <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE REPEALING THE TITLE OF ARTICLE I OF, <br />AND ADDING ARTICLE I (COMMENCING AT ~3 .1) TO, <br />CHAPTER 3 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY RELATING TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF COMMERCIAL <br />HANDBILLS AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 334 <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. The title heading of Article I of Chapter 3 of <br /> <br />the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Article I (commencing at ~3.l) is hereby added <br /> <br />to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"ARTICLE I. COMMERCIAL HANDBILLS <br /> <br />IISection 3.l <br /> <br />The following terms shall, for purposes <br /> <br />of this agreement, have the meanings ascribed to them in <br /> <br />this section except where the context clearly requires a <br /> <br />different meaning: <br /> <br />"(a) 'Commercial Handbill I shall mean and include <br /> <br />any printed or written matter, any sample or device,dod- <br /> <br />ger, circular, leaflet, pamphlet, paper, booklet, or any <br /> <br />other printed or otherwise reproduced original or copies <br /> <br />of any matter or literature: <br /> <br />II (1) Which advertises for sale any merchandise, <br />product, commodity, or thing; or <br /> <br />"(2) Which directs attention to any business or <br />mercantile or commercial establishment, or other <br />activity, for the purpose of either directly or <br />indirectly promoting the interests thereof by <br />sales; or <br /> <br />U(3) Which directs attention to or advertises any <br />meeting, theatrical performance, exhibition, or <br />event of any kind, for which an admission fee is <br />charged for the purpose of private gain or profit; <br />but the terms of this clause shall not apply <br />where an admission fee is charged or a collection <br />is taken up solely for the purpose of defraying <br />the expenses incident to such meeting, theatrical <br />performance or exhibition. <br /> <br />II (b) 1 Private Premises I shall mean and include any <br /> <br />dwelling, house, building, or other structure, whether <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />'"".
