6.2A
Page 1

November 20,2006

Subject
Resolution allocating a compensation adjustment for the City Manager.

Recommendation
Adjust the salary of the position of City Manager.

Background
The City Manager's anniversary for compensation adjustment is March of each year. The
City Manager's performance evaluation was successfully completed in September 2006.
In October of 2006 a salary survey of comparable cities was conducted. Following the
results of that survey and based on his high performance as identified in his annual
evaluation, we are recommending the following adjustments to the City Manager's
compensation:
. A 5% increase retroactive to the first pay period of March 2006, and;
. A 2.5% increase retroactive to the first pay period of July 2006.

The last compensation adjustment for the City Manager was effective in July of 2005. If
approved, the City Manager's base monthly salary will increase from $16,743.00 to
$17,580, effective March 10,2006, and then to $18,020, effective July 10, 2006.

Alternative
. Not grant a salary increase at this time;
. Grant a lower salary increase at this time;
. Grant a higher salary increase at this time.

Fiscal Impact
,

The cost of the salary increase and salary related benefit costs is $9,572 for the fiscal year.

/+
\ '.,

Jeff lr~> ~
Council Member

~d
