The Fall Conference focused upon the environmental challenges of <br />climate change and how jurisdictions could be involved in the solutions at a local level. Practical sustainable <br />strategies were proposed through land use and smart growth, building sustainable communities specifically <br />exploring green building policies and smart design. Specific local governments showcased their strategies <br />to address waste reduction and resource conservation. Projects and programs focused on outcomes, <br />benefits, fiscal impacts and options with guidelines provided to help other jurisdictions adopt and adapt <br />these practical solutions. Programs included commercial and residential waste, zero waste, recycling and <br />climate protection campaigns. <br /> <br />The message from diverse presenters was that climate change is upon us and local governments must get <br />engaged. Presentations from PGE, Environmental Defense League, Rocky Mountain Institute, cities and <br />counties provided information and activities that can be used regardless of city size. <br /> <br />The re~%~S;OvidedJ'j1 b~shared with the City Manager and appropriate staff. <br /> <br />. lu~~ <br /> <br />Signature of Council Member <br /> <br />11~13-o6 <br />Date <br /> <br />The Administrative Code requires reports of conferences or meetings for which a council member requests per diem or expense reimbursement. <br />Reports must be submitted to the City Clerk of no later than the Wednesday of the week before the next City Council meeting. Reports must be <br />submitted before the City of Redwood City will pay per diem or reimbursement for the conference or the meeting. Reports are not required for City <br />Council meetings, or meetings with Council members, I11e City Manager.
