3. Reappointment for San Mateo County Metropolitan Transportation
Commission

Mayor Pierce stated that Sue Lempert, former City Councilwoman and former
San Mateo City Mayor, will be asking for support for reappointment on the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the election will also take place
at the Council of Cities, City Selection Committee meeting in December.

4. Council Member Hartnett - stated that the City of Redwood City is part of an
organization called HEART (the Housing Fund of San Mateo County) and the
purpose of the organization is to help generate funds for affordable housing.
He stated that Council Member Howard is currently the City's representative on
HEART and could not be here tonight. He stated that there is a concern that
Council Member Howard was informed that HEART Board Members are
required to contribute their own personal funds in addition to helping fundraise
within their communities for HEART. Council Member Hartnett questioned
whether or not this is in alignment with the role of elected public officials to be
required to donate their personal funds and fundraise for any organization. He
also stated that they know private nonprofit organizations often do this. In
response to his stated hope that this issue would be on a future agenda and
that the executive director of HEART come and give them a report, Mayor
Pierce stated that she would contact them and send a letter to ask them to
speak with Council.

10.
