6.18
Page 1

REPORT

To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
And the Redevelopment Agency Board
From the 01 Mana er and Executive Director

December 4, 2006

Subject
Amendment NO.1 to the agreement with The Office of Tom Richman for professional
services related to the Theatre Way II streetscape improvement project.

Recommendation
By motion, authorize the Executive Director to execute Amendment No. 1 to the
agreement with The Office of Tom Richman, in the amount of $13,500.00 for electrical
engineering services necessary to complete construction documents.

Background
In July, 2006 Council authorized staff to finalize design and prepare construction
drawings for streetscape improvements on Middlefield Road between Veteran's
Boulevard and Broadway. On October 9, 2006, the Agency entered ihto agreement
with The Office of Tom Richman for $59,500.00 to provide design services and
construction documents. An amendment for $13,500.00 is needed at this time for
electrical engineering services exceeding the $5,000 estimated and allocated in the
original scope of work. The original estimate was low; plus, it did not include the
evaluation of seasonal receptacles on Middlefield between Broadway and Marshall,
now deemed advisable to insure adequate power for special events.

Alternatives
Do not authorize the amendment for additional scope of work. This would result in
incomplete or substandard construction documents and/or delay the completion of the
project_

Fiscal Impact
Funds for Theatre Way II have already been allocated and the current available
~nnce is $144,043, which is more than adequate to cover the amendment.

~~/~ P~ln9mm EdV

Redevelopment Manager Community De elopment City anager
Director

Attachment
The Office of Tom Richman Amendment NO.1

REDEVSHARED_ 2006 STAFF REPORTS_12-2006_Tom Richman Amend No 1
