<br />7A <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Executive Summary <br /> <br />The goal of the Community Tree Task Force on Tree Policies ("Task Force") is to review <br />the City's policies, procedures, and practices associated with the living infrastructure of <br />both City-owned and privately-owned trees, and the conflicts that often occur in the <br />repairlreplacement of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters and make recommendations to City <br />Council. The Task Force has achieved this goal and makes twenty-four <br />recommendations to the City of Redwood City City Council ("Council"). <br /> <br />Vision: <br />1. Redwood City adOpts a vision for the Urban Forest Program. <br /> <br />Current Urban Forrest Conditions: <br />2. Develop specific and measurable long-term and short-term goals for our urban <br />forest. <br /> <br />3. Inventory and monitor the health of Landmark Trees. <br /> <br />Current Policies and Procedures: <br />4. Develop and approve an Urban Forest Master Plan as the overall source document <br />for all activities related to all trees in the city. <br /> <br />5. Officially designate the Public Works Services Department accountable for the <br />Urban Forest Program. <br /> <br />6. Create a formal process for tree related topics in the Community Development <br />Services department. <br /> <br />7. Update policies and ordinances to match the desired results and recommendations <br />contained within this document. <br /> <br />8. Update practices to match the desired results and recommendations contained <br />within this document. <br /> <br />9. Enforce public right-of-way policies. <br /> <br />10. Create a Master Tree list. <br /> <br />11. Plant all existing vacant tree sites giving the resident a choice from a Master Tree <br />list. <br /> <br />12.
