<br />DRI/"I1r.JAL <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N N 0 .11 20 Q JAN 22 1990 <br />HONORING MEL MELLO FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC <br />SERVICE <br />WHEREAS, Mel Mello served with distinction on the Half Moon Bay City <br />Council continuously from April 1972 until he retired in November 1989, <br />serving as the Mayor in 1974, 1978, 1983 and 1987; and <br />WHEREAS, Mel is much admired for his dedication and commitment to <br />public service, to San Mateo County and to the coastside communities that <br />have grown and prospered through his leadership and example; and <br />WHEREAS, Mel has been an active and distinguished member of local and <br />regional organizations including, but not limited to, the Cattleman's <br />Association of San Mateo County, the San Mateo County Farm Bureau, the North <br />County Council of Cities, the Spanishtown Historical Society, the Pumpkin <br />Festival Committee, the San Mateo County Soil Conservation District, San <br />Mateo County Fair Board, and the San Mateo County Convention and Visitors <br />Bureau; and <br />WHEREAS, Mel has labored long and well as an agricultural biologist, <br />restaurateur, grain and dairy farmer, volunteer fireman, professional rodeo <br />performer, custom farm equipment businessman, harvestor, engineering aide, <br />and antique collector, and has always given more of his time and energy to <br />his community than any other ten people we know; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his career, Mel has earned the respect of his <br />fellow civic leaders and the affection of a host of area residents who are <br />proud to call him "friend". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. GREENALCH, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do <br />hereby join in the celebration for MEL MELLO and extend our appreciation for <br />his long and distinguished career and our best wishes for continued success in <br />all his future endeavors. <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * <br />
