Exhibit "A" 07/l7/89 AGREEMENT SPECIFYING RESPONSIBILITIES - CHESTNUT STREET IMPROVEMENTS THIS AGREEMENT, made this day of , 1989, by and between SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION COMPANY, a corporation, herein termed "Railroad" and CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a municipal corporation of the State of California, herein termed "City"; RECITALS: The parties hereto desire to set forth by this instrument their agreements with respect to the improvement of Chestnut Street at or near Redwood Harbor, in the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State of California. AGREEMENT: 1. Ci~y, at City's expense, shall perform or arrange for: (a) removal of existing pavement, including that portion within the track area; (b) placement of all utilities underground, casings for which shall be bored unless train service is suspended or other arrangements are made; (c) installation of subgrade for relocated track to bottom of ballast, per attached detail; (d) construction of raised curb walkway on both sides of relocated track; (e) construction of parking bays; (f) installation of new paving within the vehicular traveled way; (g) placement of signs, pavement markings, illuminated signs and signals, and red curbing; and (h) materials for rubberized railroad crossings. 2. Railroad, at its expense, shall: (a) remove three-thousand five hundred (3,500) feet of existing track, including one (1) turnout. (b) install stabilization fabric; (c) construct three-thousand five hundred (3,500) feet of new track, including one (1) turnout on the new alignment; (d) rearrange existing signal facilities to accommodate track changes;
