<br />DES:djk 09/22/88 <br /> <br />(003/24) <br /> <br />times that amount in higher costs for worker compensation <br /> <br />insurance rates, and taxpayers will incur higher welfare and <br /> <br />MediCal costs for injured workers and their families; and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Coalition to Restore Safety at Work, a <br /> <br /> <br />coalition of labor, business, civic, health, environmental, <br /> <br /> <br />education, and consumer groups, gathered more than 703,000 voter <br /> <br />signatures to place an initiative on the statewide November <br /> <br />ballot restoring Cal-OSHA; <br /> <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />1. This Council hereby endorses the Cal-OSHA Initiative, <br /> <br />which appears as Proposition 97 on the ballot at the statewide <br /> <br /> <br />general election to be held on November 8, 1988, and urges the <br /> <br />citizens of the City of Redwood City to vote for the proposition <br /> <br /> <br />to provide for safe and heal thy work places in the State of <br /> <br />California. <br /> <br /> <br />2.
