<br />to <br /> <br />. ., <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Library Program Supervisor (Continued) <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Develop goal and objectives for the Library's I'IIIter1als collections in all <br />City libraries; analyze scope, content and budget; provide for selection of <br />library materials for main library and branch libraries. <br /> <br />Meet with individuals, community groups, and school officials to analyze <br />changing community needs for library services; develop services and activities <br />responsive to community needs. <br /> <br />Answer questions and provide information to the publiC; investigate complaints <br />and reconmend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints; educate <br />publiC in use of library. <br /> <br />Provide reference and readers' guidance for the public; catalog and classify <br />library materials. <br /> <br />Attend and represent the library at professional meetings as required. <br /> <br />Direct the activities of cataloging, classifying and acquisition of all <br />library materials. <br /> <br />Supervise and participate in library publicity and public relations activities. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />,9UALlFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />Principles and practices of professional library work including <br />methods, practices and techniques of library classification and cata- <br />loging, reference, and other adult services or children's services. <br /> <br />Policies, procedures, and functions of the library system. <br /> <br />Principles and practices of collection management, information services <br />and programming. <br /> <br />Public library materials selection standards and policies. <br /> <br />Materials and services available in publiC libraries. <br /> <br />Computerized cataloging and bibliographical data bases and rules for <br />entry of materials. <br /> <br />Interpersonal communication techniques for dealing with the public. <br /> <br />Program planning and evaluation methods and report writing procedures. <br /> <br />24 <br />
