<br />~ <br />'JtI <br />. <br /> <br />J' <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />LIBRARY OUlREACH SPECIALIST <br /> <br />DEF IN ITION <br /> <br />To perform a wide variety of technical and clerical library work; to encourage <br />and assist patrons in using the library; and to act as a co-..nity 1 iai50n <br />between the library and the targeted community. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives general supervision from professional library personnel. <br />Exercises functional and technical supervision over pages and volunteers. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Serve at a circulation desk, check books in and out of a library, and issue <br />library cards. <br /> <br />Respond to in-person and telephone reference and informational questions; <br />refer more difficult or technical questions to appropriate library staff. <br /> <br />Charge out and discharge materials in the automated circulation system. <br /> <br />Delete from computer system old books, games and records. <br /> <br />Encourage children and adults to use the library. <br /> <br />As a ment>er of the cOlllllUnity, represent the library at cOlllllunity events; <br />represent the community's needs back at the library. <br /> <br />Sort and count items loaned; annotate totals in ledger. <br /> <br />File catalog and other cards alphabetically and numerically. <br /> <br />Process discarded items. <br /> <br />Deliver books to patrons unable to come to library. <br />Perform routine clerical assignments, including typing. <br />Proofread book pockets and circulation cards for accurate matChing. <br />Monitor and direct the work of assigned staff. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />67 <br />
