To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> <br /> Mamh 25, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Agreement for Consulting Geotechnical Observation and Testing Services for the <br /> Roosevelt Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase II- Engineering File No· 1602-02 <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approve an agreement with Bay Area Geotechnical Group (BAGG) of Palo Alto, <br /> California, for Consulting Geotechnical Observation and Testing Services required for <br /> the Roosevelt Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase II, in an amount not to exceed <br /> $29,950. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> The contract for Roosevelt Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase II has been awarded <br /> to Interstate Grading & Paving, and they will be starting the work in April, 2002· <br /> <br /> The services of a geotechnical engineer are needed to observe the grading operation, <br /> and to perform compaction tests on the soil· Also, underground utilities will be installed, <br /> and tests will need to be performed on the backfilling of trenches. Finally, the roadways <br /> and sidewalks will also be installed and tested for proper compaction. <br /> <br /> The firm of Bay Area Geotechnical has provided us with a proposal for the on-site <br /> observation and testing.
