<br />General Services Superintendent/Util~~ies <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Resolve work problems and interpret administrative policies to sub- <br />ordinates, other departments and the public. <br /> <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE OF: <br /> <br />Principles and practices of civil engineering and public works admin- <br />istration as applied to the construction and maintenance of public <br />works facilities, technical inspection services, plan review, and <br />other areas. <br /> <br />Principles of organization, administration, budget and personnel <br />management. <br /> <br />Materials, equipment, procedures, and practices used in the design, <br />construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of a municipal water <br />distribution system. <br /> <br />ABILITY TO: <br /> <br />Supervise the work of others, including planning, directing, monitor- <br />ing, and evaluating. <br /> <br />Evaluate operations and problems in assigned general service areas; <br />recommend and implement improvements. <br /> <br />Assist with the preparation and administration of a departmental bud- <br />get, including purchasing. <br /> <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. <br /> <br />Select, train and evaluate professional and technical subordinates. <br /> <br />Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. <br /> <br />Meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job performance. <br /> <br />EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Four years of progressively responsible experience in general <br />services in local government, including significant experience <br />in a supervisory capacity. <br />
