0 R I G I N A L 10/26/98 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13503 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING SUSPENSION OF PREDATOR <br /> CONTROL MEASURES BY UNITED STATES FISH AND <br /> WILDLIFE SERVICE IN REDWOOD SHORES AREA OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Government, acting by and through the <br />United States Fish and Wildlife Service has required implementation of certain <br />predator control measures as a condition to a permit issued by the United States <br />Army Corps of Engineers for a levee maintenance project in the Redwood <br />Shores area of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City believes that there <br />are reasonable alternative methods being suggested by animal protection <br />organizations, including the San Francisco Peninsula Humane Society, and <br />interested citizens to carrying out the Endangered Species Act, other than the <br /> <br />method of trapping proposed by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. This Council hereby strongly requests the U. S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Service to enact a six-month moratorium on the implementation of the trapping <br />and related measures of the aforesaid predator control program in order to <br />consider and evaluate alternative methods including the offer made by the <br /> <br /> Reso-537 <br /> F :lShlshlRedwoodlCouncil <br /> DES:rg <br /> 0'i0/28/98 <br /> <br /> <br />
