<br />KEEPING UP: MURRAY BROWN (1923- <br />2006), FORMER WESTERN CITY EDITOR <br /> <br /> <br />Murray Brown, <br />former editor of West- <br />ern City. the League of <br />California Cities' <br />monthly magazine, <br />passed away on No- <br />vember 17. He was 83. <br /> <br />In addition to guiding <br />Western City magazine <br />in the 1970s, Brown is <br />considered the founding father of the California <br />Association of Public Information Officials <br />(CAPIO) and selVed as the statewide professional <br />public affairs organization's first executive director. <br />CAPIO's 300 members make it one of the largest <br />professional public affairs associations in the <br />United States. <br /> <br />A memorial is scheduled for December 17 at <br />the Valley Cities Jewish Community Center <br />located at 13164 Burbank Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. <br />The memorial will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. In <br />lieu of flowers, the family requests that contribu- <br />tions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, <br />5900 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1100, Los <br />Angeles, CA 90036. <br /> <br />The League extends its condolences to the <br />Brown family for their 10$$. <br /> <br />8A <br />CALL FOR MAYORS AND COUNCIL Page 18 <br />MEMBERS SESSION IDEAS <br /> <br />Here's an exciting opportunity to share your <br />ideas, knowledge and expertise with city elected <br />officials!
