<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.3A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />To,the Honorable; Maydr and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />January 8, 2007 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Surplus Property <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By Resolution, declare one "1988 Pierce Arrow Fire Engine" surplus and authorize the sale <br />of this vehicle in a manner most advantageous to the City. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Public Works Services Department, in coordination with the Finance Department, acts <br />as the centralized coUection and storage point for City personal property, either worn out <br />and/or surplus for various City departments. <br /> <br />Government Code Section 37351 and Section 3-% ofthe Charter of the City of Redwood <br />City as amended, permits the sale of any City property having an appraised value of <br />$5,000 or more through public notice or public bid for not less than 90% of the appraised <br />value. <br /> <br />Attached hereto is Exhibit "An describing the surplus fire engine. It has been appraised at a <br />value of more than $5,000. This piece of surplus property was originally purchased and <br />put into fire service in 1988. It was replaced and taken out of service in 2006, after serving <br />18 years and has exceeded its useful life. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Continue collecting and storing the City's surplus property. However, the longer this <br />vehicle is stored the less resale value it will have. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The revenue from this surplus property will be returned to the Equipment Replacement <br />Fund, consistent with fund management practices. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Attachment <br />1.
